DAVEY WILSON is an internationally-published photographer specialized in commercial and editorial work.
Although Wilson spent his childhood studying in an independent art studies program and regularly excelled in the arts, he never took a single photography class. However, Wilson would later describe his connection with photography as "instantaneous."
Wilson made his first break in photography while working in Lifestyle Marketing at Columbia Records. After falling in love with some of Wilson's concert photos, an A&R scout hired him to photograph the band Metro Station. His session with the band immensely impressed and he was quickly inundated with work, especially in music.
Wilson went on to shoot a mixture of editorial portraits and live concert photography of critically-acclaimed bands, big and small, including Radiohead, Coldplay, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Jay-Z, The Raveonettes, Sonic Youth, The Black Angels, Coheed And Cambria, Liam Finn, Oh No Oh My, Reptar, Jukebox The Ghost and many more.
Wilson's oeuvre has been featured on the pages of major publications including Mojo, NME, Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, Under The Radar, Premiere Guitar Magazine, Filter, and USA Today as well as online at Wired.com, Spin.com, Pitchfork.com, RollingStone.com, Self-TitledMag.com, OysterMag.com & countless more.
Through his editorial press portraits for bands, he developed his natural talent with lighting, which probably stem from painting. His rapid development and love of lighting naturally helped push him into more commercial territory.
After traveling most of his life, Wilson settled in Brooklyn where he continues to shoot much of his work today.
